Flurin Babst, PhD

Assistant Professor, School of Natural Resources and the Environment

Dr. Flurin Babst is an Assistant Professor in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Arizona. He studies ecosystem processes in forests, woodlands, and shrublands to advance the scientific basis of nature-based climate solutions. His work integrates observations and models to develop a cross-scale understanding of carbon allocation to long-term pools in a warming world. To enable this research, the Babst lab works closely with public and private land managers, including major mining corporations in the U.S. Southwest, to be able to address societal and industrial needs for basic and applied ecosystem studies.
